Where the recommendation lives
BreatheCheck runs no “/best/” list and no ranked review page. The only place a product gets recommended is inside a city page’s verdict block. It sits next to that city’s air-quality read for the day — a wildfire-smoke week, a winter inversion, a clean stretch. The disclosure sits directly above that recommendation, in the same block, every time. That city’s name gets filled into the third sentence, and the block closes with a link back to this page:

That sentence is not a template we hope you’ll skip past. It’s the actual arrangement. It’s stated at the point where it matters, where a reading is telling you to do something about the air in your house.
What we earn on, in order
Portable air purifiers and Corsi-Rosenthal box components come first. These are what a city page defaults to indoors, and where most affiliate links point.
Replacement filters come second. A cheap first purchase becomes a recurring one; the disclosure applies the same way to both.
Air quality monitors come third, on pages where owning one is genuinely the next useful step, not a default recommendation for every reader.
We don’t run lead-generation for HVAC contractors. We don’t accept paid placement from any manufacturer. No brand pays to rank higher in a recommendation, and no recommendation is sorted by commission rate. If a cheaper or better-reported option exists outside our affiliate program, the page is meant to say so rather than quietly omit it.
We don’t test products
We say this on the about page too, because it can’t be said only once: BreatheCheck has no lab and runs no product tests. A recommendation reflects what residents in a given city, and independent HVAC sources, report about a category of product. A portable HEPA unit. A Corsi-Rosenthal box. A MERV-13 filter swap, where the furnace can take one. It is not the output of us buying units and running them side by side. Saying that plainly is a stronger claim than implying a lab we don’t have.
Questions or a correction
If a link is broken, a price is stale, or a recommendation looks wrong for a reason you can point to, it belongs on the public log where every fix is dated.
